EWUCRT Hosts 132nd Seminar on Large-Scale Isolation, Purification, and Characterization of Natural Products from Terminalia arjuna and Terminalia chebula, and Evaluation of Their Role in Metabolic Disorders

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) hosted its 132nd Research Seminar, titled “Large Scale Isolation, Purification & Characterization of the Natural Products from Terminalia arjuna, Terminalia chebula and Evaluation of Their Role in Metabolic Disorders,” at the EWUCRT Seminar Room (Room 560).
This study is a joint research initiative by Professor Dr. Chowdhury Faiz Hossain and Dr. Mst. Rejina Afrin, Associate Professor, from the Department of Pharmacy, East West University, and Dr. Aditya Arya from the School of Medicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Taylor's University, Malaysia.
On behalf of the research team, Professor Dr. Chowdhury Faiz Hossain and Dr. Mst. Rejina Afrin presented the study. The presentation highlighted the successful large-scale isolation and characterization of bioactive compounds from the bark of Terminalia arjuna and Terminalia chebula and explored their therapeutic potential against metabolic disorders, including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus and nonalcoholic fatty-liver disease.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor, chairpersons, faculty members, research students of EWU, and EWUCRT officials attended the event. Following the presentation, an engaging and insightful question-and-answer session took place. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks from the session chair, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University.
