The Namaz-e-Janaza of Syed Manzur Elahi Held at East West University

East West University (EWU) mourns the passing of Syed Manzur Elahi, a distinguished founding trustee and a pivotal figure in the establishment and development of the institution. He passed away on 12 March 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to education and national progress.
Mr. Elahi’s Janaza prayer was held on Wednesday, March 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the EWU courtyard. The ceremony was attended by his family, members of the Board of Trustees, Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, faculty members, administrative officials, and students of EWU, all paying their respects to a man who had profoundly influenced their lives.
A close friend and Chief Adviser of EWU, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, expressed his deep sorrow, stating, “In the last 65 years, we were friends, but we have not had any misunderstanding, not a single day. Manzur was a good soul, and always dedicated to the progress of our country and its people. He was the main inspiration and hope to build EWU. We pray for the eternal peace of the departed soul.”
Syed Nasim Manzur, son of Mr. Elahi, shared his father’s enduring life lessons, “My father always told me to serve the country first and to always behave humbly with others. No matter how rich you are, people will remember you by your behaviour.” These words reflected the values that Mr. Elahi embodied throughout his life.
Syed Manzur Elahi’s contributions to East West University and the nation are immeasurable. His vision and dedication laid the foundation for an institution that has become a beacon of quality education in Bangladesh. His commitment to fostering a culture of humility and service will continue to inspire generations of students and faculty. East West University extends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Syed Manzur Elahi and prays for the eternal peace of his soul.
