East West University Holds Orientation Program for Graduate Diploma in Leather Management Batches 9 and 10

The Executive Development Center (EDC) of East West University (EWU), under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP), officially welcomed newcomer students of the 9th and 10th batches of its Graduate Diploma in Leather, Leather Goods, and Footwear Management. The orientation program was held on April 21, 2026, at the S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery at the university.
Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of East West University (EWU) and Advisor to the EDC-SICIP, was the Chief Guest at the event. In his address, Professor Rahman emphasized the critical need for specialized management skills to foster innovation and enhance global competitiveness within the industry. The event also featured distinguished Special Guests, including Mr. Mohammed Walid Hossain, Additional Secretary and Executive Program Director at SICIP, Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance, and Mr. A.K.M. Moshpiqur Rahman Masud, Managing Director of Accenture Footwear & Leather Products Limited and Director of the Footwear Leathergoods & Accessories Exporters Association (FLAXA). The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Program Director of EDC-SICIP at EWU. Following the speeches, a lively Q&A session was held on the occasion.
The event began with opening remarks from Dr. Mohammad Rezwanul Huq, Assistant Director (Administration), EDC-SICIP, and Associate Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at EWU. Also in attendance was Professor Dr. Anup Chowdhury, Deputy Director of EDC-SICIP and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics of EWU. Several faculty members, students, administrative officials, and staff attended the program.
