Orientation Program for New Faculty Members: Spring 2025

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of East West University (EWU) organized a day-long Orientation Program on February 22, 2025, for the newly recruited faculty members who joined during the Spring 2025 semester. Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU attended the program as the chief guest. The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Sufia Islam, Director of IQAC.
The orientation program began with a welcome address by Professor Dr. Sufia Islam, Director of IQAC. Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, Additional Director, IQAC introduced the new faculty members to the esteemed guests.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik provided insightful and practical guidance on how to achieve high standards of quality education. He also inspired the new faculty members to engage passionately and commit themselves to their work, fostering a strong commitment to maintaining and enhancing the institution's reputation.
A panel discussion led by Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering; Professor Dr. Anup Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics; and Professor Dr. Farzana Akhter, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences covered the rules and regulations, code of conduct, promotion process, and teaching practices at EWU. Later, an interactive Q&A session was held between the new faculty members and the panel of three deans from different faculties.
Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering and Additional Director of IQAC, delivered a discussion on “Outcomes-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL). Professor Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Chairperson, Department of Business Administration and Professor Dr. Shamim H. Ripon from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at EWU, shared their expertise on “Teaching as a Career: Planning, Survival and Growing” and “Quality Assurance in Higher Education” with the participants.
Thirty-seven new faculty members from various departments attended the program. Ms. Abida Sultana, Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy, anchored the workshop. Professor Sufia Islam, Director of IQAC, concluded the session with a vote of thanks.
