“Ponchokobir Gaan” organized by East West University Club for Performing Arts (ECPA)

The East West University Club for Performing Arts (ECPA) successfully organized a vibrant and culturally immersive event titled “Ponchokobir Gaan”, accompanied by a lively day-long fair, to celebrate the enduring legacy of five legendary figures of Bengali literature and music—Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Dwijendralal Ray, Rajanikanta Sen, and Atulprasad Sen—collectively known as ‘Ponchokobi”. The primary objective of the event was to pay tribute to these iconic poets and composers by showcasing their timeless contributions through music, recitation, dance, and visual arts. It also served as a creative platform for students to reconnect with the richness of Bengali heritage and express their appreciation through various artistic forms.
The presence of esteemed guests significantly elevated the event’s success and prestige. Among them were the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin; Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Shams Rahman; Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik; Treasurer, Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury; Club Moderators, Dr. Nikhil Chandra Shil and Md. Shazed Ul Hoq Khan Abir; and Adviser of the Department of Students’ Welfare, Ms. Ismat Shereen. Their warm presence, encouraging words, and appreciation of the students' efforts added great inspiration and motivation to the performers and organizers, making the celebration even more meaningful and memorable.
The highlight of the program, “Ponchokobir Gaan”, featured soulful musical renditions of songs written and composed by the five poets, enhanced by expressive dance performances and dramatic recitations that captured the emotional depth and cultural essence of their works. A dedicated visual arts exhibition displayed student-created artworks inspired by the philosophies and lives of the Ponchokobi, including paintings, handcrafted mascots, and thematic installations, adding a compelling visual storytelling element to the event. Alongside the cultural showcase, the university grounds transformed into a festive fair where students hosted colorful stalls offering traditional crafts, Bengali literature, handmade items, and authentic food, creating a vibrant space for cultural exchange and community celebration. The event attracted a large and enthusiastic audience comprising students, faculty members, and invited guests, who filled the auditorium and fairgrounds with energy, admiration, and a collective spirit of pride in Bengali culture and heritage.
