Workshop on “4th Industrial Revolution and Key Attributes of the Graduates”

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of East-West University (EWU) has organized a workshop on “4th Industrial Revolution and Key Attributes of the Graduates” aimed at Assistant Professors, Senior Lecturers, and Lecturers from all departments within the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering. The resource person of the workshop was Professor Dr Ahmed Wasif Reza, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Additional Director of IQAC. The topic was “Education 4.0 and Outcome-Based Education: Context of 4IR and SDGs”. This event was held on 17 September 2024 in room No.126 (S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery), EWU. The workshop started with a welcome address from Professor Sufia Islam, Director of IQAC.

Professor Shams Rahman, the Vice Chancellor, graced the workshop and stated that the domains of artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet have a substantial impact on higher education as the globe embraced the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) at the start of the twenty-first century. Furthermore, he advised the young faculty members to design assignments that are difficult for students to complete with ChatGPT and AI. He expressed gratitude to IQAC for setting up this highly anticipated session for younger faculty members, which will assist them in enhancing their ways of instruction and learning.

Professor Dr. Sufia Islam, Director, IQAC mentioned that “Education 4.0 is a modern approach to education that fits the demands, challenges, and opportunities of the 21st century. She added that education 4.0 is a flexible approach with a vision for how the education system and practices can develop in the future.

Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza provided a detailed summary of the OBE teaching and learning method, equipping new faculty members with the necessary skills for modern technologies and establishing a connection between Education 4.0 and Industry 4.0.

The workshop was highly participatory, with thirty-five faculty members in attendance. At the conclusion of the session, there was an open Q&A. The participants expressed their gratitude to the EWU authority and appreciated the IQAC for organizing such a thought-provoking program.

At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, Additional Director of IQAC expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor of EWU, resource person, faculty members, and other staff for their contributions to the workshop's success.
