Department of Pharmacy Hosts Seminar on NMR Spectroscopy

The Department of Pharmacy, East West University, organized an insightful seminar titled “Unveiling Molecular Structure Through NMR Spectroscopy” on 6 November 2025 at the campus.

Distinguished Pharmacist and Researcher, Professor Dr. Choudhury Mahmood Hasan, Vice President, Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh and Former Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka, graced the session as the Keynote Speaker. The department was also honored by the presence of the Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice-Chancellor of East West University. The Pro-Vice Chancellor, of EWU, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, along with the faculty members and students of the Department of Pharmacy participated in this seminar.

The session began with a warm welcome from Professor Dr. Md. Amirul Islam, Chairperson, Department of Pharmacy. The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, delivered an inspiring speech focusing on the development of curiosity and passion for scientific exploration.

The keynote speaker, Professor Dr. Choudhury Mahmood Hasan, who pioneered scientific teaching of NMR spectroscopy in Bangladesh during his early academic career, captivated the audience with his lucid explanation of the fundamental principles of NMR within a remarkably short time. His thought-provoking insights, combined with his philosophy on the connection between knowledge and happiness, deeply encouraged both students and faculty alike.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, expressing gratitude to the distinguished speaker and guests. The session was smoothly conducted by Ms. Rashmia Nargis Reyda, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy.

Enthusiastic participation from everyone made the seminar a memorable success.
