Orientation Program for the Newly Recruited Faculty Members, Fall 2024

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of East West University (EWU) hosted a day-long Orientation Program on October 26, 2024, for the newly recruited faculty members who joined during the Fall 2024 semester. Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser and Founder Vice Chancellor of EWU, attended as the chief guest, while Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, served as the special guest.
The orientation program began with a welcome address by the IQAC director, Professor Dr. Sufia Islam, who also introduced the new faculty members to the esteemed guests.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin provided constructive and realistic guidance on achieving high standards of quality education to meet contemporary societal needs. Additionally, he inspired the newly hired faculty members to work diligently and devotedly in order to maintain the institution's reputation.
Professor Dr. Shams Rahman emphasized the importance of teaching philosophy and social welfare as an academic pursuit, building strong relationships with senior professors, and engaging in high-quality research that would enhance EWU's reputation.
A panel discussion led by Professor Dr. Mohamad Ruhul Amin, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering; Professor Dr. Anup Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics; and Professor Dr. Farzana Akhter, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences covered the rules and regulations, code of conduct, promotion process, and teaching practices at EWU. The newly hired faculty members actively participated in an interactive Q&A session.
In the second session, the topic “Teaching as a Career: Planning, Survival, and Growth” was discussed by Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik. Professor Dr. Shamim H. Ripon and Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at EWU, shared their expertise on “Quality Assurance in Higher Education” and “Outcomes-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL)” with the participants.
Thirty-three new faculty members from various departments attended the program. Ms. Manzuma Ahsan, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology anchored the workshop. Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, the Additional Director of the IQAC, delivered a vote of thanks.
