The inaugural ceremony of training program on “Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: Teaching, Research, and Responsible Innovation”

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT), inaugurated a two-month training program titled “Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: Teaching, Research, and Responsible Innovation” at the S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery of East West University (EWU) on 11 June 2026.

Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering and Additional Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), delivered the welcome address. In his remarks, he highlighted the growing importance of AI literacy and responsible innovation in academia and stressed the need to equip faculty members with the knowledge and skills to effectively integrate AI into teaching, research, and institutional practices.

Mr. Ma Ben, Managing Director, Public Affairs, South Asia Region, Huawei, attended the event as the Guest of Honor. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of East West University, and Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, who addressed the participants and emphasized the transformative role of artificial intelligence in higher education, research, and innovation.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ma Ben underscored the significance of academia-industry collaboration in advancing AI-driven innovation and preparing future graduates for an increasingly technology-driven world.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin emphasized the importance of embracing emerging technologies while maintaining ethical standards and academic integrity. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman noted that the initiative reflects EWU’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and continuous professional development of its faculty members.

A total of 40 faculty members representing 10 academic programs will participate in the training program, which aims to enhance participants’ understanding of AI applications in higher education, research methodologies, responsible AI adoption, and innovation practices.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Treasurer, Deans, Chairpersons of academic departments, professors, faculty members, and officials from IQAC and EWUCRT, reflecting the university’s collective commitment to fostering excellence in AI-enabled higher education and research.
