Israt Jahan Ira, A rising star of East West University Photography Club
Israt Jahan Ira, one of the sub-executives of the East West University Photography Club and a student of the Department of English, recently obtained the First Prize in the Single Photo Category at the F11: See Sharp Season II, a national photography competition organized by the Independent Photography Club (IPC) of Independent University, for her photo. The judges for the competition were Saiful Huq Omi and Sarker Protick. The call for entries began on December 15, 2024, and submissions were accepted until January 15, 2025. There were two submission categories: single photos and photo stories, and the theme was open.
The contest witnessed 7,456 submissions by 1,138 participants nationwide. The award-giving ceremony took place on 20 April 2025, with the exhibition in three phases from 8 to 10 April at IUB, 11-12 April at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, and 18 April at Hotel Intercontinental, Dhaka. The exhibition was open to all. Among 49 single photos and 7 photo stories selected by the judges, Ira won the first prize, which solidifies her reputation as a distinguished photographer on the national stage.
