Md. Salauddin Sakib, a student from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and Vice President of the East West University Robotics Club, has been selected as a recipient of the ICCCAD Youth Innovation Fund 2025 in the Sponsoring Green Idea/Campaign category, with financial support from the Embassy of Sweden.
Sakib is the Founder and CEO of HydroZone, a groundbreaking initiative that generates clean and affordable fuel from water for cooking purposes. HydroZone is designed for households and small businesses, aiming to reduce fuel costs by up to 60% while eliminating harmful emissions. With built-in safety features and smart monitoring, this revolutionary device is paving the way for a greener and more energy-independent Bangladesh. Over the past 1.5 years, Sakib has been tirelessly working on this project, achieving significant milestones by the end of 2024. Currently, he is developing the third-generation reactor chamber to enhance efficiency, with the ambitious goal of making HydroZone market-ready by the end of 2025.
This recognition from ICCCAD—one of Bangladesh’s leading organizations in climate change research and capacity-building—underscores the impact of his work and the potential of HydroZone in transforming the fuel sector of Bangladesh. His success is a testament to the innovative spirit of East West University students, and we look forward to seeing HydroZone shape a more sustainable future.
