The national-level competition was organized by the Network for International Law Students (NILS) Bangladesh and hosted by Daffodil International University, with MCLaw Services as the powering partner. The competition was held on January 30, 2026, and brought together law students from across Bangladesh.
The Department of Law of East West University was represented by four teams in the competition. Among them, two teams demonstrated commendable performance against strong national-level competitors. Out of a total of 32 teams representing 22 universities across the country, one team from the Department of Law advanced to the semi-final round, marking a significant achievement in a highly competitive debating environment. The Semi-Finalist Team named ‘Verdict Vault’ consisted of Md. Salmun Alam, Abdur Rahman Jobair, and Shagufta Chowdhury Adrita. Md. Salmun Alam, serving as both the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader, played a pivotal role throughout the tournament. He demonstrated exceptional analytical ability and presence of mind, particularly in rebuttal and sur-rebuttal. His skill in identifying logical gaps, responding to opposing arguments in real time, and reinforcing the team’s core stance significantly strengthened the team’s performance in every round. As the Assistant Prime Minister, Abdur Rahman Jobair delivered strong, well-structured constructive speeches that formed the foundation of the team’s case. His clear articulation, sound legal reasoning, and persuasive delivery provided a solid framework upon which rebuttals and extensions were effectively built. Shagufta Chowdhury Adrita, acting as the Government Whip, delivered impactful speeches by synthesizing arguments. Her outstanding performance earned her the prestigious Best Speaker Award.
Through the combined performance of its teams, East West University secured a total of three (3) awards at the competition, an achievement that reflects the growing excellence, dedication, and competitive strength of EWU Law students at the national level. The success of the EWU Law teams proudly underscores the Department’s expanding presence and recognition on the national legal debating stage.
