Dr. Dilara Begum has been awarded with the prestigious award, “Prof. Indira Parikh 50 Women in Education Leaders”


Dr. Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies and Library Management & Librarian (In-Charge), East West University has been awarded with the prestigious award, “Prof. Indira Parikh 50 Women in Education Leaders” on 05th July 2018 in Mumbai at the World Education Congress. The World Education Congress nominated her for this award in March 2018. The award is given to 50 women who contribute for the upliftment of their sectors. The World Education Congress focuses on influencing the culture of education and educational pedagogy, building a vision and strategies for higher education institutes, providing exposure to latest education tools, technologies and solutions and encouraging collaboration and partnership among institutions. Besides, she has also been honored as an Invited Speaker in this Congress. She has given an oral presentation on “Ensuring quality education through technology driven information services” on 06th July 2018.

Dr. Begum has more than 18 years’ practical experience in academic, teaching and research environment in the field of Information Studies and Library Management. She has more than 35 publications in national and international reputed journals and conference publications. Beside this, she voluntarily acts as General Secretary of Digital Library Network of South Asia (DLNetSA), Secretary of IFLA Information Literacy Section, Expert Member of Selection Board of Professor and Associate Professor, National University of Bangladesh, Expert Member of Curriculum Development Committee at Institute of Information Science, University of Noakhali Science and Technology, Bangladesh, Standing Committee Member of European conference of Information literacy (ECIL) and so on.

It is worth mentioning that last year Hon’ble Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has received “Education Leadership Award” by the same organization in recognition of his contribution to education sector in Bangladesh.
