Dr. Dilara Begum Elected as the Governing Board Member at IFLA
Dr. Dilara Begum, Associate Professor and Chairperson, Department of Information Studies, East West University has been elected as the Governing Board Member of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) for the tenure of 2023-2025. She had to contest with the candidates from Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Japan, and Turkey to secure her position in the governing board (https://www.ifla.org/election-results-2023-gb/?fbclid=IwAR06iw9K5Gc4xsOdaof5obHJJMuc-5QUMAwRbdoxciXHn7s-9__vhKYBywo). Dr. Dilara is now the first and only Bangladeshi information professional who is in the governing board of IFLA (https://www.ifla.org/units/governing-board/committee/). She joined the IFLA World Library and Information Congress 2023 at The Hague, Netherlands to take the responsibility as one of the governing board members.
It is worth mentioning that the IFLA is an international, non-governmental, and not-for-profit apex organization representing the interests of people related to libraries and information institutions.
