East West University Commemorates First Anniversary of July Mass Uprising

East West University (EWU) solemnly observed the first anniversary of the ‘July Mass Uprising-2024,’ paying heartfelt tribute to the courageous individuals who fearlessly sacrificed their lives for the cause of democracy. The commemoration, held at the EWU campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka, on 18 July 2025, honored the "Heroes of July-2024" for their profound sacrifices and gallantry.

The day's events began with a Tree Plantation ceremony beside the boundary wall of the EWU campus, symbolizing growth, renewal, and enduring hope for democracy. This was followed by the inauguration of a poignant Photo Exhibition in the corridor of the Auditorium, showcasing powerful images from the July Mass Uprising.

Attendees, including distinguished guests, faculty, and students, then proceeded to the 'Manzur Elahi' Auditorium. The program commenced with the National Anthem, followed by a one-minute silence observed in solemn remembrance of those who lost their lives in the July Revolution.

The event also featured powerful experience sharing by students who participated in the protest, providing firsthand accounts of their bravery and commitment. The commemoration concluded with a Cultural Program, celebrating the spirit of resilience and the enduring pursuit of democratic values.

The commemorative program saw the presence of Professor Dr. Mohammed Farshuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees; Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU; Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor, EWU, Air Cdre (retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, EWU; along with dedicated faculty members, administrative officers, and a large number of students. Their collective presence underscored EWU's unwavering commitment to upholding democratic ideals and remembering the sacrifices made for them.
