Welcome to EWU Science Club

On August 14, 2004, East West University Science Club set out on its voyage. Since then, the club has been successful in upholding its reputation as one of the top clubs at East West University, hosting signature events like the “Interuniversity Mathematics Olympiad”.

EWU Science Club initially organized events like workshops and seminars on various topics related to science and technology. The students and faculty at East West University greatly praised each event that this club put on. With these compliments, EWU Science Club aspired to accomplish even more.

In 2008, the desire to complete a large and challenging task led to the formation of the first Interuniversity Mathematics Olympiad. At the very inaugural IUMO, hundreds of students from various Bangladeshi universities took part. That occasion was made bigger and brighter by the attendance of highly renowned and praised professors from various universities.

The success of the first IUMO’2008 inspired the club to organize the second IUMO in July 2009. This time, it was greater than the previous one, and the spontaneous participation of other universities contributed to its success. It was a genuine celebration of mathematicians’ love and passion. Additionally, the media showed great admiration for this occasion. It was considered to be one of the most significant competitions for university mathematics.

In the year 2014, EWUScC expanded its study trip experience, by planning an additional study visit to Western Marine Shipyard LTD on June 16. We were able to broaden our thinking on this tour by seeing industrial activity and learning from workers.

EWU Science Club also arranged a seven day long study tour in India from 25th December 2015 to 2nd January 2016. Our honourable club moderators, Alumni, club president, and general members joined that tour to guide and share their knowledge and experience. This is the last tour for 2015 and the first for 2016. After this successful study tour, the club was motivated in arranging the signature program, Intra University Math Olympiad on 15 May. Students from science and engineering backgrounds participated in those competitions. EWU Science club ended its 2016 session by arranging a four-day study tour at Shahjahanullah Power Generation company limited on 21-24 December 2016. EWUScC also eradicated the limitations of knowledge by arranging a two days workshop on 2D and 3D animation on the 3rd and 4th of April, 2017.

On 22 March, 2018, East West University Science Club decided to do something unique & organised a 1day long Intra University Mathematics Skill Test for GRE.  EWUScC has always been fascinated by outside knowledge & skills. This year was not any different. We are successful in organising a 3 day-long study tour at Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO). Workshops on Photoshop & MATLAB are also something EWUScC had done before and promised to more in future.

At the very beginning of 2019, on 19 January a team building program was organised where every member, panel member, Club president, alumnus even our club moderators participated in many sports such as badminton, carom, table tennis, and a prize-giving ceremony was also arranged to motivate the participants and the winners. On 18 February 2019, our signature event, intra-university math Olympiadl was held where students of every department participated and winners got certificates and crests. After a successful inter-university math Olympiad 2016, on 23 February 2019, Inter University Math Olympiad was organized again on a huge scale, students from around 21 well reputed public and private universities participated in the competition. On 26 May 2019, a workshop on python was arranged which was a wonderful event for the students who wanted to start python or beginners got a lot of guidance and it was beneficial for them, especially for the students of Computer Science and Engineering. Knowledge knows no limit, EWUScC proved that every time. A field trip was organized at the Atomic energy research establishment, Ganakbari on 27 June 2019 where our respected moderators, our president, and club members went on the trip. On 30 September, a seminar was held on “Insight of Career development on information security” in which members gained knowledge about how they can secure their careers.

A ‘Team-building Program’ was held on January 18, 2020 at the start of the year. Every member of the panel, the club president, alumni & even our club moderators participated in various sports. In order to broaden its study trip experience, EWUScC has scheduled a tour to Anwara power limited on February 3. On this excursion, through observing industrial activities & hearing from workers, we expanded our understanding.

A workshop on Python titled ‘Basic Python Programming’ was held on March 12 & 13, 2021 & it was a helpful event for the students who wanted to learn the language or were beginners. It was beneficial for students of Computer Science & Engineering as well. The following workshop, ‘Creativity getting started with Adobe Illustrator’, focused on Adobe Illustrator. The planned date is July 17. On August 20 & November 5 respectively, there were webinars on ‘Career Building Opportunity’ & ‘Android App Development’, which aided the participants in exploring their expertise in these areas. After that, on November 21st, our club scheduled a session on ‘Achieving higher study goals." For the commemoration of Bangladesh's victory day, "Bangabandhu O Ekti Shopner Nam Bangladesh," an educational & cultural event, was organized. There were certain documentaries that covered a range of subjects & a quiz was designed around them. Everyone took pleasure in it, and participants received a gesture of appreciation.

Our first successful event of 2022 was "Search your Innovation", held on April 19, where participants engaged in a variety of sectors to demonstrated their talents in that particular field. The participants were given a nice evening to celebrate their accomplishments & received medals & certificates. There was a seminar on ‘Flutter App Development’ that happened on June 7 to introduce the basic idea of it to the participants. Then on May 17, our club organized a watchful cultural program to welcome our newly recruited members.

EWU Science Club also welcomes freshers of the university every year with cultural programs and brainstorming quiz competitions.

This club is slowly but surely giving training to the student to become smart and intelligent citizens of this country. Old students related to this club are now doing great in their working fields. EWU Science Club is very fortunate to have Dr. Anindita Paul as a Founder & great faculty members Dr. Akter Hossain, Rupali Ghosh, Dr. Shakil Ahmed as the club moderators. Their support, guidance and encouragement are the inspiration for this club to go ahead. EWU Science Club promises to organize lot more interesting, innovative and intelligent programs related to science and technology in near future.
