Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity held at East West University

Apr 23, 2026

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at East West University (EWU) hosted a seminar titled "AI and Cybersecurity in Industry: Why Advanced Skills Matter" on April 23, 2026, at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium. The inaugural session was attended by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at EWU; Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor; Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering; and Dr. Maheen Islam, Chairperson of the Department of CSE at EWU.

The seminar featured a panel of industry leaders, including Dr. Zunaid Kazi, Founder & CEO of Knowtomation; Mohammad Oli Ahad, Director & COO of ACI AI Business; Md. Showkat Ali, Head of Information Security at Grameenphone Ltd.; and Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, a cybersecurity professional at Grameenphone Ltd. The speakers emphasized the critical importance of advanced technical skills in addressing modern digital threats and leveraging the transformative potential of AI. They advised students to focus on building a strong foundational knowledge rather than simply learning specific tools. To this end, they suggested a master's course in ‘Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning’ and ‘Cyber Security’ to equip the next generation of professionals with market-ready expertise. A participatory Q&A session was also held during the seminar, facilitated by Dr. Mohammad Rezwanul Huq, Associate Professor in the Department of CSE. A large number of students attended the seminar.
