Event Description

The East West University Robotics Club (EWURC) recently hosted a highly successful workshop on “satellite and amateur radio communication”. The event, held on May 5, 2023, attracted a diverse group of enthusiasts and experts eager to explore the fascinating world of radio communication systems and satellite technology. Although many people were interested in this workshop, 110 people got the opportunity to register to participate in this program.

The workshop was divided into two sessions. In the first session, Mr. Anup Kumar Bhowmick, along with other experienced instructors, delivered comprehensive lectures on radio communication systems. Participants gained insights into the fundamentals of amateur radio communication, including how radios function, the various frequencies that can be utilized, and the regulations governing amateur radio use. Emphasis was placed on the process of acquiring an amateur radio license, including the different license classes, their respective requirements, and tips for preparing for the license examination.

During the technical session, the Amateur Radio Society of Bangladesh (ARSB) set up multiple antennas on the rooftop of East West University (EWU) and a ground station on the 7th floor. Attendees had the unique opportunity to witness the retrieval of images from NOAA Weather Satellites, providing a live view of Earth from space. Additionally, real-time airplane communications were intercepted, offering an exciting glimpse into the world of aviation communication.

The collaboration between the East West University Robotics Club and the Amateur Radio Society of Bangladesh was highly valued by both organizations. This workshop marked a significant milestone for EWURC, and there are hopes for further fruitful collaborations with ARSB in the future.

The event undoubtedly provided a wonderful and enriching experience for all participants, leaving them with a deeper understanding and appreciation of satellite and amateur radio communication. The East West University Robotics Club aims to continue organizing such informative events to foster innovation and exploration in the field of robotics and technology.
