Event Description

East West University Investment and Finance Club launched a new event of workshop "Road 2 Fin" associated with City Brokerage Ltd. on 21 March 2023. This is a finance based workshop series which has been designed to enhance the financial knowledge of students for East West University through the financial industry experts and institutions.

East West University Investment and Finance Club received over 300 registrations in a single day through online and offline media. Therefore, the club had to limit the registration and call off the offline sign-up booth a day earlier due to seat limitations. The workshop was executed successfully with an exquisite response from the students.

The event started at three o'clock in the afternoon, with the presence of club moderator Leo Vashkor Dewri sir, our honorable faculty Md. Humayun Kabir sir along with our five esteemed speakers and seven honored guests from City Brokerage Ltd.

The topic of our program was "INVEST IN YOUR FUTURE", and the key discussion held on the scope of investment, investment using technology, career in the capital market, and so on. The session began with an insightful presentation from AKM Fazlay Rabby Sir who is the Vice President and Head of Research and Investment at City Brokerage Ltd. Where he explained everything from scratch about the money market, capital market, and every other aspect of finance that was necessary for the upbringing of students. He also explained the step-by-step process of how to make the CityInfinity application work and how to invest in the stock market. How detailed information can be maintained from the marketplace and the most up-to-date information is available. Market elements like bank, stock, shares, securities, foreign exchange currencies, brokerage, IPO etc were explained in detail. The most eye-catching part was that the app could deliver information from both the Dhaka Stock Exchange Market and the Chittagong Stock Exchange Market simultaneously. He also discussed the share market crash incident of 2010. Subsequently, AKM Fazlay Rabby Sir discussed career opportunities in the capital market. Why and how understated it has been although it is a platform full of opportunities. He also mentioned that in order to survive in the financial market, one should be afraid when the market is rising and greedy when it is falling. In addition, he brought examples from some well-known individuals who seized the opportunities on this platform and became a millionaire. 

Afterward, there was a small Q&A session where all the students cleared all their doubts related to the topic. Also, some career aspects were discussed in the meantime. After the interactive session the long-awaited quiz session took place at exactly 5:05 pm. The quiz questions were everything from the presentation. The quiz took place for 10 minutes and exciting gifts were handed to three of the fastest and most correct answer providers. Some refreshments were organized for the participants which were distributed amongst them and the session was dissolved at exactly 5.30 pm.
