Event Description

To celebrate the glorious 25 years of the East West University Sports Club, we hosted the first intra-university cricket tournament, the EWU Crickers Cup. The tournament was organized from September 4 to September 6. Before the kick-off, the Sports club arranged the trophy unveiling ceremony with a grand concert, at which two of the most famous bands, Avoid Rafa and Nemesis, performed. Suzuki Bangladesh sponsored the event.

The matches occurred in the Jahurul Islam city central field near the university. For the group-stage matches, 15 teams were split up into four groups. The table-toppers from each group advanced to the semifinals. The Department of Business Administration (BBA) faced the Department of Pharmacy in the final. The BBA team chose to bat first after winning the toss. They scored a staggering 105 runs. The Pharmacy team fought hard until the end, but it was in vain since they could only score 79 runs. Team BBA triumphed by 26 runs to claim the first-ever EWU Crickers Cup title.

The award ceremony took place shortly after the final. Saiful Alom Tuhin from BBA received the Man of the Final award for his exceptional performance. Nobel from team BBA and Fahim from team Pharmacy were awarded for their overall performances in the tournament, respectively, as the highest wicket-taker (7) and tournament top scorer (130). The champion, runner-up teams, and individuals received medals and trophies from EWUSC's respected moderator, M H M Imrul Kabir, and president, H K Yeasin.
