Event Description
East West University cricket team participated in The Clemon Indoor Uni Cricket 2023 tournament along with 31 other teams from different universities. The tournament has recently been concluded.
As soon as the East West University Sports Club decided to participate in the tournament, it left no stone unturned to select the best possible team from the best cricketers of this University and train them. This club managed to recreate the real environment of the Clemon Indoor Uni Cricket tournament in our training ground (EWU badminton court). Managing original game balls, mats, nets, and bats was part of recreating the original environment. This club had introduced a coaching staff for the team, which selected the best possible team and trained them, even sometimes with the balling machine.
After all the backing-ups from the club, this team only won their last match against IUB out of the three matches played. Despite the less-than-ideal outcomes in the tournament, the students of East West University and members of the East West University Sports Club stood firmly behind their team, offering unwavering support. The East West University Sports Club has been a pillar of strength for the players, from facilitating practice sessions to arranging transportation for coaches and showing up in full force at the stadium. Their dedication and encouragement infused the players with energy and motivation to continue their efforts in this event and, hopefully, in future competitions.
However, there is a growing concern regarding the tournament's authorities allowing national team players to participate in some university teams. This inclusion poses a challenge, diminishing the opportunity for emerging talents to shine on this platform. If this practice persists, it could dampen the players' enthusiasm for the event and hinder their chances to showcase their skills.
