On December 19th, 2020, IEEE EWU Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE Computer Society, organized a Webinar on “IEEE Membership Benefits”. It was a one-hour webinar. The Guests of this webinar were, Nusrat Jahan Ananna- Lecturer of Dept. of EEE, EWU and Dr. Maheen Islam- Associate Professor of Dept. of CSE, EWU. The two speakers were the Chairperson of IEEE EWU Student Branch- Sayed Mostasim Hasnain Saif and the Chairperson of IEEE EWU Computer Society Student Branch Chapter- Md. Mania Ahmed Joy. In this one- hour long webinar the guests and the speakers gave the participants a brief about IEEE. What it is and the history of IEEE. Then they gave them a brief on having an IEEE Membership. They discussed about various kinds of student benefits. Such as- scholarships, section funding, awards, student travel grants, fellowships etc. Being an IEEE member, one can have these benfits. They also told about IEEE Xplore Digital Library from where the students with an IEEE membership can see and download papers. They also gave them a brief on various chapters of IEEE. At final session, students interacted with the conductor through questions and expressed their thoughts. They had many things to know. All their confusions and questions were answered by the conductors. The questions prove that they have been very much influenced through our conductor’s words and experiences. The session was an informative one and the participants got a good idea of why they should have an IEEE membership.
