On 20th November, 2020, IEEE EWU Student Branch organized a webinar on “How to Do Research and Publish Paper on IEEE Platform”. It was a one-hour webinar. Research is the most important thing for a society to get the solution of a problem which can eventually change the fate of the society. To do research, one should have some knowledge in the area he wants to do his research. To give a brief idea about research and publication of papers, IEEE EWU Student Branch organized this webinar. The main speaker of this event was ‘Dr. Anisul Haque’- Professor, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) at EWU. He was an editor of IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices until 2019 and is currently serving as an associate editor of IEEE Access. The Chair of this event was the Branch counselor of IEEE EWU Student Branch ‘Nusrat Jahan Ananna’- lecturer, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) at EWU. She welcomed everyone in her introduction speech and gave consent to start the webinar. In the webinar, Dr. Haque discussed about the basics of research and paper publishing, why students need to publish a paper, how to do research, and how a manuscript should be written. He also told the students the difference between the conference paper and the journal paper. He gave some tips on choosing the right source for conference or journal paper. He introduced the students with a term ‘impact factor’ which tells whether the publication organization has a good reputation or not. After completing his presentation, Dr. Haque took the questions of the students and answered them in a professional manner. The webinar reached more than 40000 people and the number of responses recorded were 550. In Facebook live the view reached 4000. The Branch Counselor of IEEE EWU Student Branch thanked everyone at the end of the webinar for co-operating with IEEE EWU SB. Students of not only from EWU, but also many other universities, including BUET were also present in the webinar. Many foreign students and faculties along with the alumni of EWU and the representatives of other IEEE Student Branches were also present in the webinar.
