Event Description

On 24th and 25th November, 2020, IEEE EWU Student Branch organized a workshop on “Hands-on Machine Learning with Real-life Application”. It was a 2-hour workshop which was divided into 2 parts and was conducted in 2 days. Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems the ability to learn automatically and improves experience without being explicitly programmed. Learning machine language gives a person the ability to perceive, store, and manipulate data into a machine which acts like a robot and can make life easier for human. The workshop conducted by ‘Mr. Harun-Ur-Rashid’- CEO of Quantum.AI. Quantum.AI is the first Bangladeshi Education platform which Teaches and Guide about Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning in Bengali. The Chair of this event was the Branch counselor of IEEE EWU Student Branch ‘Nusrat Jahan Ananna’- lecturer, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) at EWU. She welcomed everyone in her introduction speech and gave consent to start the workshop on each days. In the first day of the workshop, he demonstrated the reasons to be interested in Machine Learning, how to get started with Machine Learning, types of machine learning, Datasets Collection, preparation & processing. He also gave a brief on the machine learning algorithms. By using all of these the participants got prepared for the hands-on learning on machine language. In the second day of the workshop, participants used the learning of the first day and got familiarized with the machine learning environment by using the necessary tools. Participants got the opportunity to work on machine learning by using the online platforms where the learning is pretty much easier. They learnt how machine learning can differentiate between various species of flowers. He also gave some online resources from where the participants can learn freely and use it whenever they need. i.e. Heroku. The number of participants registered for this event were more than 100 and it reached over 7000 people. The Branch Counselor of IEEE EWU Student Branch thanked everyone at the end of the workshop for co-operating with IEEE EWU SB. Students from not only EWU, but also many other universities, including BUET were also present in this workshop. Many foreign students and faculties along with the alumni of EWU and the representatives of other IEEE Student Branches were also present in the workshop.
