Event Description

The IEEE EWU Student Branch and the East West University Robotics Club jointly organized an event to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence on March 26, Friday, 2021. The main goal of organizing this event was to explain the significance of our Independence Day to the new generation. This event was a virtual event that started at sharp 8.00 PM GMT+6. This was a very successful event because about 90 participants joined the event and 4 keynote speakers were present. Again, the whole event was live on Facebook.

At first, Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin (Professor; Chief Adviser, East West University; Founder Vice-Chancellor, East West University; Former Governor, Bangladesh Bank) started his words by thanking the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for giving us an independent country. He told about the background of Independence Day and how these days can inspire the young generation.

Then one student from East West University recited a poem. Then the keynote speaker Fakir Alamgir started his words for us. He was a legendary singer and freedom fighter. His songs have played an important role in the revival of patriotism and the development of the consciousness of the Liberation War among the younger generation. He told us about how he played an important role as a member of Kranti Shilpi Gosthi and Gono Shilpi Gosthi, during the mass upsurge in 1969. He told us about the horrors of March as if we could visualize how grievous the march was in 1971.

Then, again one student from East West University recited a poem and after that Md. Farhad Uddin Sarkar (Senior Assistant Editor, Kaler Kantho). He told us how difficult it was to collect the news. He mentions some names who gave their life for collecting the right information in the time of liberation war. He added they stayed in Dhaka to collect news and spread the news to the world even though there was life risk. We remember them with reverence.

Our honorable speaker Mohammad Golam Rabbani (Professor, Department of history, Jahangirnagar University) then told us briefly about the history of liberation. He told us the true definition of independence. How the 7th March speech inspired the Bangalees to prepare for a war of independence.

This successful event ended with a group song where the students of East West University participated.
