Event Description

Language movement constitutes a glorious and unforgettable chapter in the national history of Bangladesh. On 21 February 1952, the valiant souls named Rafiq, Jabber, Salam, Barkat were killed, when the Pakistani police gun-fired on a procession brought by the students at Dhaka University campus. They are the first martyrs in the world who died for the cause of language. And for their selfless sacrifices, Bangla was established as our mother tongue.

Every year in the remembrance of martyrs, and to show love and respect for the language the day is observed as ‘Shahid Dibosh’ (Martyrs Day).  The day has been recognized as ‘International Mother Language Day’ by UNESCO and thus celebrated all over the world. In this continuation, East West University Sociology Club (SCEWU) has organized an event entitled "মধুরআমারমায়েরভাষা: ভাষাওঅস্তিত্বেরসংকট- ২০২১".  As the world is going through a pandemic situation, with upholding the new term of ‘New Normal’, all activities are done online. "মধুরআমারমায়েরভাষা: ভাষাওঅস্তিত্বেরসংকট- ২০২১" is also observed online with everyone in East West University.
